The Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra presents our second series of the season, exploring the many ways orchestral music brings stories, images, and drama to life across opera, ballet, theater, and film.
The program journeys through centuries of music inspired by the arts, from Mozart’s sparkling Overture to The Marriage of Figaro and Respighi’s musical interpretation of Botticelli paintings to selections from Tchaikovsky’s beloved The Nutcracker. Prokofiev’s dramatic Romeo and Juliet transforms Shakespeare’s tragedy into one of the 20th century’s great ballet scores.
The second half brings the journey to the screen, with music from Captain Marvel, Schindler’s List, and Star Wars: A New Hope. The orchestra rounds out the evening with seasonal favorites, including Leroy Anderson’s Bugler’s Holiday and Sleigh Ride.
