Community Engagement
The Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra (NPO), an all-volunteer community orchestra featuring amateur and professional players from throughout Middle Tennessee, is proud to play its part in enriching the already vibrant Nashville arts community. Our mission is to offer area orchestral musicians opportunities to perform while providing high-quality symphonic music free of charge to a wide variety of audiences.
Ensuring that high-quality performances are accessible to everyone is the heart of Nashville Philharmonic. See the many ways in which we are involved in making music across Nashville and building community in the process.

a collaboration between the Nashville Philharmonic and The Porch Writers' Collective
In this special writing class, students (both adults and youths) are invited to The Porch to listen to excerpts from a piece of classical music that will be performed by the Philharmonic in an upcoming concert. The instructor guides students as they write sensory and emotional responses to the music. At the end, they have the option to share their responses to be printed and displayed at the concert venues. Designed for listeners and writers of all levels. No prior knowledge of classical music required!
Classes will take place at:
The Porch
2811 Dogwood Pl.
Nashville, TN 37204
Ambassadors Program
As a central priority of our mission, the Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra is partnering with area schools, youth organizations, and other educational organizations to provide opportunities for students to interact with the orchestra in meaningful ways.
Does your orchestra need double reeds? Or does your string orchestra need wind, brass & percussion?
Would your concert band like to play a full orchestra piece with our string musicians?
Do your students need volunteer hours and want to see how an orchestra concert is produced?
We would like to help!
If you work with students and would like to explore a partnership, please let us know through our Contact page or email us at education@nashvillephilharmonic.org
Venue Partnership
The NPO is passionate about seeking out new performance venues throughout the Nashville area. These might be such places as schools, houses of worship, community centers, theaters. We welcome suggestions and ideas! Fill out our host venue form for more information.
