Tara has been playing music since she was five. While she started on piano, once she picked up the flute at age ten, that was it for the keyboard. She studied flute privately in college and performed with various ensembles as well as the University (of Pittsburgh) Symphony. Since college, she has played in a number of community groups, was the founding director of the Nashville Philharmonic Flute Ensemble, and plays gigs around town. She has been a member of the orchestra since its founding in 2004. In her non-musical life, she is a medical educator at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
