Mickey Rybiski began playing the double bass in college. He earned a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from McNeese St. University and went on to earn the Master of Music Performance degree from the University of Michigan. Mr. Rybiski has studied the double bass with Diana Gannett, Steve Molina, Derek Weller, David Anderson, and Jay Ecker. He has performed in more than a dozen community orchestras from Louisiana, Texas, and Michigan.
Mr. Rybiski has been a school orchestra director for 12 years, teaching at Lake Highlands High School in Dallas, TX before his appointment at Poplar Grove Middle School in Franklin. He is also on the faculty of the OK Bass Bash, a summer camp for young bassists in Oklahoma. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons at home when he is not teaching or performing.
