The Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra (NPO) announces video auditions for all orchestra positions.
Submission deadline is Wednesday, August 1, 2017.
An audition video is required. The video should include two scales of your choice covering a reasonable range of your instrument – one scale played slowly, the other scale played at fastest accurate speed – and two to four minutes total of a solo, etude, or concerto that showcases your musical ability (a combination of excerpts is also acceptable for this portion).
Interested adult musicians in Middle Tennessee are encouraged to audition. Audition participants will be considered as members or substitutes for all sections of the orchestra.
To begin the submission process, please send an email request (without the video) to firstname.lastname@example.org. You will be sent an application and instructions for submitting the video audition.
The orchestra performs four two-concert series in October, December, February and May (usually Sunday/Tuesday combinations) in diverse locations throughout the greater Nashville area. Rehearsals are held weekly on Tuesday evenings from 7-9:30 PM at St. George’s Episcopal Church for two months prior to performances.
Members of the NPO come from a number of different professions and represent a wide range of ages and demographics. Attorneys, pharmacists, software engineers, dentists, sales representatives, teachers, college students, retirees, members of the music industry, and many other professionals make up the orchestra’s ranks. Although the musicians come from different walks of life, a passion for classical orchestral music unites the group.
